Original from India, China, Malaysia and the Philippines. Our baby banana is smaller than the regular banana, and is grown in the coffee zones of the Colombian Andes. The pulp has an ivory color and the skin can be yellow or red.
This fruit is very nutritious and it is sweeter than the conventional banana. Due to its nutritious value, size and sweet flavor, the baby banana is a preferred snack for children and babies. It can be consumed by itself, in salads, desserts, cereals or smoothies.
The fruit is composed mainly of water, carbohydrates and certain amount of proteins and fats.
It should be stored below 15 °C (60 °F). If the skin begins to turn brown, the fruit is still eatable. In order to choose good baby bananas, look for the yellow fruit that is slightly green at the ends and subtly hard; it will ripen within a couple of days.
